The idea of study habits is broad since it encompasses practically all other sub-concepts such as study attitude, study methods, and study skills. Attitude is a mental and natural state of readiness that is organised by experience and has a direct impact on an individual’s attitude to all things and events with which he or she is associated.

Regardless of whichever course one might be pursuing, a detailed and chalked out plan of how and what to do is crucial. Since academics acts as an essential stage towards attaining the goal you’ve set in life it becomes imperative to perform well. A quite popular connotation of “smart work” over hard work is in practice these days. However, one must not confuse the term “smart work” to be replacing the age-old concept of hard work. The world is moving at a hasty pace with an ever changing definition of “success”.

Hence the requirement of the time is to work more in a specified time which demands spending time judiciously at work. Here are five ways which may help you become more productive in any academic sphere. Although if you are a student aiming to be productive before exams, you need to put extra effort in ensuring the below mentioned points. In case you are stuck in an inversely proportional phase in between the time left and syllabus left to cover, you ought to buckle up and start preparing.

Before starting anything you must have a detailed plan of the things that you intend to do. Academics require being consciously acting on your goal. Anyone who is aiming to excel in academics ought to have a routine which will act as the primary step towards preparation. If you polled successful and productive people from all walks of life and sectors, you’d discover that different ways work for different people. Sylvia Plath wanted to get up at 4 a.m Leo Tolstoy loved to get up at 9.00 a.m.

Former US President Barack Obama loves to exercise first thing in the morning, but Steve Jobs, the late American information technology entrepreneur and innovator, focuses on establishing the day’s main objective. Setting up a schedule, from wake-up to bedtime, allows you to form habits that will become habitual with time.

It might sound absurd but routine is essential in every way of life be it academics or any professional life. Students who are working constantly for any kind of examination should know which areas should be given what proportion of time based on which he/she starts preparing. This can be done when one has a routine prepared. It is very obvious to decide which direction to go before walking in any direction. Having no plan can be dangerous as that will fail to encourage you to keep working. Henceforth to avoid all odd situations it is wiser to have a routine made first. Following the routine is a whole different thing and comes later.

Focus, clarity, and dedication are needed to complete each minor job on your to-do list. When you’re able to do this, it’ll be a breeze. You arrange your day by: identifying the most critical acts; creating a mental image of yourself achieving the goal; eliminating non-essential activities; and deciding on an acceptable reward. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Besides, sticking to routine requires patience and consistency. You may not be able to ace the task of being up-to-date with the routine but eventually with practice you gain efficacy. It only requires a “never giving up” attitude to make someone stick to their routine. Once you get used to acting according to the tasks mentioned in routine, you’ll hardly feel like acting otherwise.

Time management is a skill that can be learned that underpins any effective study method. During specific parts of the semester, students may have a cluster of assignments or tests, making organisation essential. As such,it implies you’ll be a better learner and have more fun.You will experience less stress if you spend more time at university. You must act quickly. The more effective you are at managing your time, the better. It enables you to be focused on your studies because having a strategy helps you to think more clearly. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Goal-setting is crucial for avoiding procrastination and staying focused and motivated. Make a list of short-, medium-, and long-term goals to help you focus on what you want to accomplish at university. Make sure your objectives are practical and attainable, as this will increase your chances of succeeding. You may be unsure of the career path you want to pursue, but you clearly want to pass your tests. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

On top of that, a goal adds fuel to your attempts or practices. It motivates you to keep moving ahead. As long as one lacks a goal, there are high possibilities that the person might get diverted from what he is aspiring to. A goal helps you to stay on track and focused at the same time. Also determine your long term , weekly, and daily priorities. This understanding will assist you in determining which chores must be completed. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Having too many high priorities, on the other hand, could be detrimental.  For a college student,  attending lectures, tutorials, and laboratories, as well as completing assignment deadlines, are top priorities; nevertheless, make time for social and recreational activities to balance these responsibilities.

Studying can be troublesome especially when one doesn’t know reading workload strategies. Piles of texts may make anyone nervous and in fact it is obvious to feel demotivated. However, reading can get easier when divided into groups based on a scale of importance. To make it sound simpler, if you are reading Marx’s “Historical materialism”, what you can do is divide his stages of human society, his views on the capitalist society(bourgeois hegemony), his 3 principles of social change. – ACADEMICALLY PRODUCTIVE

Once you divide any topic, you can easily allot time for each group. This will not only make your reading process easier but also improve in depth analysis of every topic read.  That in turn will enable you to perform well academically and also will enhance your knowledge. Although, if someone’s a beginner he may reach his/her teacher for guidance in this regard. Eventually with practice one can easily be able to master the art of effective and intelligent reading.

Being academically strong is the need of the hour. Career in fact is also determined by how well a person performs academically. Most of the students/ the one’s associated with academics fail to bear the pressure solely because of poor managing skills. Each of the above mentioned steps are highly beneficial and have been suggested by experts. One only needs to learn the steps mentioned and practice them accordingly for visible results. Since everyone dreams of being well in academics one might face cut throat competition in that field.
